The bed in my 66 f100 is rusted through in a couple of places. I have not found any places to buy patch panels for this truck. Are there any? If not, what are others doing to repair rusted out beds?
Blue Oval Truck has panels for these, but short bed only. If all you need is a little piece then they should work. Where is the rust? I didn't see it in your pictures. The other option is to find a donor truck and take the whole bed. The beds on these didn't rust bad in drier climates like Colorado, and the south west, so finding one shouldn't be too hard. Where are you located? I have seen a few possible donors in Colorado.
Make the rectangle pieces out of 12 gage. The floor is likley rusted right at the header. Easiest fix is use some 12 gage bent to a 45 degree angle and install it over the rusted floor panel. Or harvest a rust free floor from a later truck and use that for patch materiel. Finding a rust free bed is not easy and moving it to your location can be expensive.
I'm about ready to salvage what I can from a partially rusted out '66 long box. Let me know what size you need and I will cut it out and send it to you for the cost of shipping and a nominal amount to cover the cost of my cut off wheel. Steve
My bed was gone as well... I found that a late 90s dodge ram bed fits perfectly in the center panel... plus there are factory molded tie downs.. and drain holes. so far the installation has been cut and paste.. there is some trimming to be done on the cross members.. but thats about it.
