cab and bed swap

Hey everyone... I currently have a 64 f100 long bed 2 wheel drive that's really clean (no rust) and a 66 f100 4x4 long bed (cab and bed extremely rusty) and need to know what would it take to swap the 64 cab and bed to the 66 frame?

Maybe I should change my question, is it a straight swap and all mounting points the same...I've looked at factory schematics and they look the same.

I believe the 66 4wd used the older chassis. Number Dummy or Gargz2 are more up on that kind of thing, you might want to contact one of them through their profile.

You will have to use a 65 or 66 cab and front clip. You can modify the LF inner fender well to clear the steering box / linkage. I think the earlier bed will work but if yours has the side moldings on it you will have to relocate the holes.

Do some searching on this site they changed the cab forward mounting locations after 64 ( 65 was the first year for the twin I beam front suspension) and i think the earlier ones had a step in them also.

The 64 cab will not fit the 66 F100 four wheel drive chassis as the front cab mounts and floor pan are major changes. The bed will fit fine as it is the same wheelbase as the two wheel drive 64.

The 66 F100 4x4 is the only four wheel drive of the 61 to 66 series that used the later cab and bed. All others used the early step cab and wrong bed.

I have purchased the 66 but haven't had a chance to get her to my house yet but drove over to it today and gave it a really good look over and was surprised to find its rust issues aren't as bad as I first thought. Both front cab mounts are rusted through, the core support has a few rust holes, and the bottom of the drivers door has a 2" hole in the front corner but other than that its mostly just surface rust...and the bed only has 1 bad spot on the pass front corner...so I'm going to just fix it instead of swapping cab and bed out.

Garbz I've found them all from LMC even the bed floor...but was wandering if there is any other places I can check out for parts? I see a lot of people on where talking about different places to get parts from but most are in abbreviation.

Dennis makes 2 piece cab mounts. the same basic part that ford made. Avoid the single stamp part.

The core support is made by oval parts this and DC parts are all sold by specific vendors. Where are you located? This can point out the closest source to the parts.
