Electrical Problems in 97 Explorer
I have several minor electrical problems with my 97 Explorer XLT 4WD, the most aggravating is the door ajar light is always on even though no doors are open. I have had to remove the bulbs from all of the dome lights and front door inside panel lights to prevent my battery from running down.
Is there a basic set of electrical diagnostic tools I should buy to help track down these glitches?

Nope, the only tool you need is the "Search" feature of this forum. The issue of the door switch has been addressed NUMEROUS times. You'll likely find it's either the door switch itself, or the wiring between the door and the cab.
