New to Me 03

Just bought an 03 Ex Limited V10, needed the room to haul my wife, four kids, and a traveltrailer. Was just wondering what if anything i should look out for. Needs shocks, and the backup sensor doesnt work but other than that its in pretty good shape. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

A lot of the guys and girls can give better advice if you list the current mileage.

At 78,000 miles, the first place I would concentrate my concerns is the front suspension. Worn ball joints are somewhat likely. Make sure the 4X4 hubs work and they have been serviced and maintained properly before you need them this winter. Next, I would determine if it needs shocks or if they have ever been replaced previously. Check your transmission fluid, see what it looks like and smells like.

Another trouble area affecting a lot of Excursions lately is worn and exposed wiring in the steering column. Pop the plastic cover off the steering column and catch it before it becomes an electrical gremlin. Once a worn and exposed wire starts touching metal in there, it causes all sorts of electrical gremlin like symptoms.

Checked frontend before buying everything looked good, Had troubles with my 01 SD.
Thanks for the tip on the wiring I will have to check that out. As for the shocks they are original, and more than likely will go with Bilstiens, also put on my truck and liked them.

The next thing you will need to do after getting it checked out is load up the wife, the kids, hook up the travel trailer and enjoy...this is mandatory.
