Thanks for all the good info. how do you clean the valve and make sure the cooler dose not go out? What oil should i be running?

maybe your 05's engine has an 04' build date? I know the 03-04 motors usually wont therow a code but the 05-07' usually will?maybe your special

un plug it, unbolt the 2 screws and turn 1/8 turn to the left, some folks use channell lock pliers some people thread wire throught the bolt holes and others just give it a good yank and it comes right out.... get some carb cleaner and remove the orings, spray it down good, but make sure you dont get any carb. cleaner in the 2 weep holes at the top of the valve! put orings back on reinstall and enjoy!

The "limp mode" limits boost and fueling under heavy load to limit NOx. 03-04 will not set a light, except cali trucks. it also depends on what flash level you are at.

BTW this was verfied by Matt at Spartan.

so with the egr vave unplugged,, the valve stays shut?? is it an fully open/ fully closed type of valve or is it all over for certain conditions?

You have to unplug it with the engine off or it will remain open. AFAIK it is either open or closed.

oil cooler flush

How difficult is it to pull oil cooler and flush? Trying all the simple stuff first to keep truck running cool while towing 5th wheel.

It requires a lot of dismantling as it is at the front of the engine under the area that the intake manifold covers. Quite a lot of labor. When mine was done we just replaced the cooler and its screen rather than take a chance on any further problems with it. Also put on the new egr cooler (mine is the round one) but put a freeze plug in the end of it so no exhaust gases pass through it anymore. system looks perfectly normal and throws no codes or cel.

OK, that doesn't sound simple. Maybe I'll wait.
