well here are some pic of it in the tare down process. for got to take some last night.
we stared to replace the front door and figured out the pillar was a little out of place.
so now we have to remove the rear door in order to adjust that pillar so the front door closes correctly.
test fitted fender and hood. waiting for the 09 hinges and cowl to align everything properly. the new trucks are alot more narrow than i thought. also in order to fit the headlights there will be some cutting required but no biggie.
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
first thing monday morning we will be adjusting that pillar and getting those doors in and aligned.
hopefully we can get to the fenders and hood install as well.
and now for the heart crunching pictures:
Are you putting the doors from the current Super Duty? They seem to be thicker or better damped than the front doors of the older SuperDuty/Excursion. When I tap my knuckle on the front door of the current trucks it sounds different from the older trucks, any idea what the difference is?
ohh man..so today I got the left fender lined up with the door real nice.I got the 09 cowl panel and hood hinges in today. figured out that we are going to drill and tap a new hole for one of the bolts. also the new cowl panel has tabs that snap into the wiper panel. so we went ahead and cut those off and used some self tapping screws. so I have to get the bumper and grille tomorrow and should have the hood on it also.only things that are left to do is fix the quarter panel, skin the rear door, fix the center pillar and paint & blend the parts and areas of repair. and all this before sunday!!!! another update w/ pics tomorrow night guys israel c.

i remain confused. As I noted earlier, wouldn't it be a heck of a lot easier - to just go out and buy a new "crew cab" truck and "do a Centurion"..meaning, cut the new truck's body off right right behind the rear door's rear "former" and drop in the complete rear body from an EX ?
Modern vehicles are complex integrated electronic devices - why mess with all that ? Someone refresh my memory - during what years did they do those "Centurion" conversions?

NO it would not be easier. (and i have built a ''centurion'', see my gallery) Although it would be cooler in the end to have the modern interior, but there is no reason to cut the body in half to graft on a nearly identical front cab section.
Actually the only reason to do it would be to get the more modern engine and transmission. This is already being done by Custom Autos by Tim. Google or Bing him. He's got some awesome creations!
so its done for the most part...uploading pictures now. we knocked out repairs needed and and front end conversion in a week!!! im really proud of my guys. still minor stuff needed to be done..perfect cowl panel, wainting on custom emblems, chrome steps, 09 mirrors, tint, billet grilles, fender liners, new wheels and tires, and custom intake to use the fender vent..
You sure that's the best place for the intake? The air moving past it at speed creates a low pressure area that pulls air OUT of the engine compartment. It may have negative effects at speed if used as an intake.
also still need to figure out what color ghost smoke i wanna paint on it either dark shadow gray or light blue. i know i will deff be laying down some vinyl to all over to advertise my shop.
on a side note guys i am now offering this conversion as a kit pm me for more details.
ohhh and heres the link to the online album... check it out let me know what you guys think
well im just going to place a scoop on that eblem and fabricate an open intake similar to the afe stage 3.
the grille is enormous already so its deff getting in more air now
