Greetings! Just purchased a 2000 X Limited with 140K. Already pulled my 30' - 7500lb camper trailer. Pulls like a dream! Been reading a lot of the forum over the past 2 days. Lot's of good stuff. I have been specifically looking for information on the lights for the trip computer (located in the overhead console). The LED lights are so dim I can barely see them. Any one else have this issue? Any suggestions / solutions?
Thanks scottf4444. I had found that thread also but was hoping for something easier - like a fuse or just hitting the console Guess I'm going to have to invest in the solder pen and remove the console ......
HA!!! Hitting the console worked for me for about a month...give it the ole Fonzie bump and HEY!!! brighter than ever. Wish that was the eternal solution too.
Hey - giving the Fonzie bump did make my rear windows work! They didn't open before the "thump" and now the switches on the console work. Ehhhhhh! Like you said - it is not the eternal solution .... so I'm headed to Radio Shack tomorrow.
That said, I may even check out all the fuses. By the way, are the doors suppose to all lock when you get above a certain speed? If so they don't do it in my X.
Hey Chazman .... I looked in my manual and all I could find was the childproof lock adjustment. Is that what your referring too or is there another adjustment? In my F150 xlt - after I get going about 5 mph the doors auto lock. Kind of a safety feature. I really like it.
To deactivate/reactivate the autolock feature using the power door
unlock control
You must complete Steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must
wait 30 seconds.
1. Insert the key and turn the ignition to the 4 (ON) position.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition from the 4 (ON) position to the 3 (OFF) position.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to the 4 (ON) position. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long
chirp) if autolock was activated. Note: Pressing the power door
UNLOCK/LOCK button again will toggle between activating and
deactivating the autolock feature.
7. Turn the ignition to the 3 (OFF) position. The horn will chirp once to
confirm the procedure is complete.
Thanks Scott! You made my day. It is always the little things that go so far ..... I'm really surprised, however, that this was not in my manual. Hope it works.
Tried the reprograming code tonight for the autolock feature and it didn't work. Tried several times. Either it is not a programable feature or it's a different code. Also, the instructions are from your 2005 manual - and my vehicle is a 2000 X.
There is instructions in my manual on programing the touch pad lock/unlock and the keyless entry but nothing else.
For mine - the door unlock control step didn't work so I had to use the one which works through the keypad. Try this:
Deactivating/activating autolock
There are 3 methods to enable/disable this feature. One through your
dealer, the second with a power door unlock/lock sequence and the third
with the keypad.
Before following the activation or deactivation procedures, make sure
that the anti-theft system is not armed, ignition is off, and all vehicle
doors, liftgate and cargo doors are closed.
Keyless entry key pad procedure
1. Enter 5 digit entry code
2. Press and hold 7/8 control
3. Press and release 3/4 control
4. Release 7/8 control.
The user should receive a horn
chirp to indicate the system has
been disabled or a chirp followed by a honk to indicate the system has
been enabled.

The reason why it doesn't work is because autolock wasn't a feature until the 2002 model year. If you have a 2000 or 2001 truck, you don't have the autolock feature and the other features added for the 2002 model year. I.e on wheel radio and a/c controls, automatic climate control, dual power heated front seats, etc...
