If I disconnect the tool it will either die or idle very rough and it you give it to much throttle it will die. Kind of like it is getting to much air or not enough gas to mix with the incoming air. All of this after replacing both fuel pumps. I was getting a bad MAP sensor so I replaced it and it ran ok, but only with the tool connected. When I tried to drive it dies. The codes I get for the scan now are can't control rpm and EGR opening not detected. I have clean the egr and adjusted the TPS. .99 closed 4 at WOT. Is there some connection that the tool is making to keep the truck running? Bad computer maybe? Any ideas would be appreciated as I am stumped.
um, yea. I guess that would have helped. I found the issue. The wiring to the fuel pump is losing amps. while running. The main 12v wire that goes to the pumps is connected to the test lead for the EEC test connector. I have to trace that back to find where it may be corroded or lose. The truck was getting just enough to idle, but not feed the demand for more fuel. I have a jumper in there now. Man I have been banging my head for two days.
