Is these the normal boost levels for a e 99?
Boost seems low, but aren't you an early 99 still? 1200*F for EGT's are not bad at all. I don't think you will ever see much more than 24-26 lbs of boost though. How much are you smoking? Also, depending on which gauges you have, look for a pinched boost line to the gauge.

Sorry if I confused you, in the trucking industry we call them aftercoolers, I have be an independent owner/operator (Trucking) for 25 years and I have always known them to be aftercoolers, don't really know where the word "intercooler" ever came from, it sounds European to me. I think aftercooler comes from "after the turbo" and "cooling" the compressed air. It is the same with "Turbo Boost", it has always been called "Manifold Pressure" in our industry, just differant terms for the same thing. Sorry for the confusion!

i have a early 99 with DiPricol gauges stock 3.5 exhaust strait piped. with the 6637 filter. my boost connection is right after the turbo in the inter cooler pipe before the inter cooler. and my EGT probe is before the turbo in the drivers side exhaust manifold right before the up pipes.

I can easily hit 20 Lbs and hold that and all i have is a 60 hp chip. the most i have hit with the egts are 1200. nothing higher. I also have soot on my up pipes right by the turbo so i might be able to get more but i don't know.

I don't know if that is normal for a early 99 but it is alot higher than yours so you probably have some sort of leak.

ok so i found one issue and one leak

issue : was that the kid at the hardware store gave me the wrong diameter tubing so the tubing was 2 different sizes from gauge to the map

leak: i a leak in the plenum boot on the passenger's side
im not sure if it was the only one because i snugged down the rest too
i had to replace the brand new ideal brand stainless steel clamps ... they are less then 2 months old and came apart as i loosened them to move the screw location
when i upgrade to 99.5 turbo I'm going to get constant pressure t bars for these boots just like the rest

im boosting 21/22 psi now and about 1100 egts

My early 99, stock injectors and turbo I can easily hit 28 psi boost and the only time I have ever hit 1200° was pulling a loaded 3 horse trailer up a good grade with the cruise set at 65. Normally when towing my EGT's don't go over 1000° or 1050°.

No OBA, I can run all day long at 26-27 psi w/o setting the CEL. And if I keep my foot to it I can peg my 30lb gauge.
I can run WFO in 140 and it takes me a looooong time to get anywhere near 1200°.
