i have a 95 powerstroke,i have the tranny and flywheel out for clutch replacement and want to replace leaking oil pan seal and dipstick.does the engine still have to come out?or can i unbolt the pan and slide it back?
You can ask down in the 94 - 97 7.3 section to be sure, but I'm thinking you can't pull the pan without either removing the motor or removing the crossmember (not recommended)
The newer trucks use RTV instead of a gasket, so that is possible to repair without pulling the motor, you'd just need to let the oil drain for several days after loosening the oil pan. The dipstick tube leak can also be repaired without removing the pan, but if the pan is rusted through and leaking through pin holes, then it's time for the motor to come out.
