I'm a 7.3 man myself but my son just called and said his '03 6.0 needs a new hpop...He doen't live close so I can't help.. He was given a quote of $2,500 to replace the hpop, this sounds high to me ...
Is this price good or bad...
Thanks and thats all I know except he's got about 120,000 miles on it..
The part itself from a dealer is about $800-900 dollars, most dealership prices are around $100 now and it will require an intake set which is another $100. So about $1000 in parts assuming no other parts and charging probably anywhere between 8-12 hrs depending on the tech/dealership. Might not be a bad idea to shop it around or see if they will bargain. Most dealers now will just to keep the business.
Cost me $2400 and change @ four months ago. It sucks but it won't run without it. Got it done at my local Ford dealer, my aftermarket warranty wouldn't cover it b/c they said its part of the fuel system, and they don't cover that. HUGE pissing match, but I ended up paying for it Also replaced ICP and IPR
I would think there is a good $400 to $500 worth of room for bargaining.
I am lucky enough that I have found a tech that will do work at his house - for quite a bit cheaper than dealership labor rates. You might ask around where you live about that.
