Adam, with your 03 you will have to move the stock tranny cooler or replace it with a 6.0 cooler for the I/C to fit. The oil lines get it the way for it to slide all the way down.
Joe, you have officially been added to the "Whithouse List" of Extremists. Acorn will be watching you.
And Guzzle is right -- I had to get a 6.0L cooler for mine as well. It's a good mod anyway. You *can* modify the stock cooler if you're froggy. I think Pete did his. Something about cutting & plugging the stock lines, and drilling & tapping the bottom of the cooler so it's fed like the 6.0L type (from the bottom). Maybe Pete will chime in.

Sorry for the , but I just want to clarify that if I install a 6.0 tranny cooler, then the 6.0 IC becomes a drop-in replacement and there is no inteference to deal with for the IC swap? (That doesn't include the CAC tube boot conversion of course)

Glad to hear you got it okay ! Sorry I didn't check my PM's earlier than I did that day, but I'm glad you got a good deal out of it!

That's correct. The 6.0L cooler is fed from the bottom. The 7.3L cooler is fed from the top and the lines run right where the extra length of the 6.0L I/C needs to be. You will need to make up your own adapters though for the 6.0L cooler. Two short pieces of 1/2" PS hose, about 4' of 3/8ths hose (depending how you run it) and two 1/2" to 3/8ths 90 degree adapters. Here's what mine look like:
I used just enough 1/2" hose so the barbs don't touch. Then run the 3/8ths out towards the engine bay as you lower the cooler down in there. The 90 deg adapters will be turned at a bit of an angle, not parallel or perpendicular to the cooler, if you follow me. Lemme know if you have any more questions. No worries my friend.
I missed out on the one you posted.
I ended up finding a deal on a used IC and trans cooler in Hollywood, via Craigslist.
Marv (SpringerPop) lives down in Reseda and he went and met the seller to check the items out. They were in good shape so Marv paid for them and I sent him a check.
I went down to Marv's house the following week and picked up the IC and tranny cooler, getting to meet Marv in the process!

You don't need to do any cutting or add any fittings. It'd be a lot easier if you did the trans cooler and intercooler at the same time, but the trans cooler does not need to be modified to allow the intercooler to fit.
Just pop the hard lines for the trans cooler out of their bracket on the passenger side of the engine bay and force them downward. Do not kink them just pry gently. Keep test-fitting the IC until it drops in far enough. I was running around looking for suggestions/input at RRE and Nick was able to do what I described so that I could do the trans cooler at home instead of in TN so I could avoid getting trans fluid on the ground and avoid any possible leaks on an almost 800 mile trip.

Thanks for that info Guzzle.

Thanks Jim I appreciate that. I am trying to work out a few other stops along the way. So it won't be a trip just for the cooler, if I do it. I'm still undecided.
I don't know Mike, Adam didn't like my idea of me going out to get it lol.
Don't feel bad, don't think he would like me picking it up either. So far I see a road trip, be a good reason to get that beast out on a great highway run plus get that cooler, awesome price.
