Mod questions

A friend of mine has a E350. I think it is an 03, but I know it is newer than a 97 and its a 7.3l. My questions are does he have that "Cobrs neck" downpipe? Also can he do the "10K mod" at the ICP like on the 94.5-97? If so is it exactly the same mods?
Thanks

I'm not sure on the down pipe with the van, but I'd guess it's the same as the truck version, which is larger than your OBS pipe.

You can still do the 10k mod the same way (no need to go over 10 with the super duty), but it's not as effective as it is on the OBS trucks. Still get more fuel, more power, rougher idle, but a good chip is better than the 10k.

Reading your sig, the 140 IDM mod is the same too.

I don't think it's the cobra-neck style like the OBS, but it is smaller than the truck version. There's just not a lot of room back there! If he starts modding the van, the first thing he needs to do is put gauges on it. Especially an EGT gauge. There is no I/C on vans, so when you start messing with it, I'd guess the EGTs would go up pretty quick. Gotta keep an eye on them!

AHA, this is good ammo! He is gonna get bit by the diesel bug for sure. I just did a temp 10K mod and he was very impressed (so was I). Can you do a tune or a chip with the 10K mod on these or is that not recomended? Thanks fellas!

You can do both, but if you go with a good chip like Tony or Jody, then the ICP is just a waste of time since those guys factor that in to the tuning.

Dan had a picture of leaking up pipes in a van he posted a few times. I can't seem to find that pic, but it should answer the down pipe question.

IMHO, doing the 10k with their tuning screws up their work. They have it setup to fuel at a certain rate, and changing it up with the 10k mod isn't really doing anything positive.
