I replaced the gear box and pump. Jacked it up, turned from lock to lock 20 times. Drove it about 150 miles over a two week period, the pumpo made some noise for a while then stopped and yesterday the power steering went out. It is full of fluid and shows no signs of leaks. Any thoughts.
When you replaced the pump did it come with the pulley or did you use yours?
These pulleys are pressed on and have no keyway. They depend on the press fit to keep the pulley from spinning on the shaft.
If the fit is bad the pulley will spin and when you turn the wheels the pulley will still spin but the shaft won't.
With the engine running, have someone turn the steering wheel and watch the pulley. See if the shaft stops spinning. If it does, replace the pump and pulley.
also did you pressure flush the lines just running at through them doesnt clean them out. (This is assuming you actually cleaned all the lines when you wnet through the trouble of replacing the pump and gear box.)
