Steering Play

Looking for some opinions on the amount of play in my steering wheel...... When my ignition is in the off position and the steering wheel is locked the steering has ALOT of play in it back and forth, If I had to guess I would say a good 3-4 inches. Just wondering if this would be the gear box that is shot or something in the steering shaft. Its getting hard to drive escpecially pulling my 24 ft race car trailer every friday and saturday. Any ideas? Thanks

There's a screw on top of the steering box. Looks like a screw that goes into a nut. If you loosen the nut and tighten the screw a 1/4 turn it'll make the steering less sloppy.

Also check all your bushings and ball joints and everything in the front end. And is your power steering fluid full?
