Or if you have an H2e from hypermax with the OBS cooler tubes, uppipes and SD Y-pipe.
I went with billet aluminum intake plenums.

Maybe this will clear it up

So if I put in a superduty intercooler I can just bolt on a superduty 3" plenum and y-pipe?

I agree with ^Jim^, it's the only sealant I use for everything. That stuff is virtually indestructible and will hold even after the bolts have been removed....gorilla glue .

I don't know or care what's in it, or the fact it has Ford on the tube, but it is good stuff. I have been told by others that have used regular RTV on the oil pan and it didn't last. Not first hand knowledge, just what they told me.

There's an engine builder here that has some even stickier stuff, not sure what it is, but they actually lifted a V-8 Mack motor off the chassis trying to pull the intake off the motor that was only held on with his rtv.
i will be buying the magic grey from international. thanks for making my mind up guys

It's a gizmo I made up to check for air leaks, (Boost). I remove the 6637, hook it to the boot, apply air pressure through a regulator valve and gauge and use soapy water and look for bubbles. I charge the system with approximately 25 #

Works great.

oh ok ha ha looked like a tester that plumbers use. brought back bad memories

good luck!
mitch.
also... why did you have the oil pan off?
mitch, im installing the goodies in my sig. main reason was beacuse of changing up pipes and oil pan was seeping a little. so i pulled the motor

i used the last of the "magic" when i did my diff cover. no leaks! good luck

Possibly there has been a number change. Anyhooo, I found out that the Ford or Wacker is an epoxy RTV, does not allow the engine oil to foam when in contact and is by far a superior sealant with no equal.

I was unable to find a price on the Wacker product but I would imagine that International will supply it at your request.

I also found a couple of "Anti-foaming agents to add to your oil that will counter RTV reaction should you decide to use another RTV:
Fleetrite CH1824392

Lubrizol 888

Rog, you're probably right on the part number for the Wacker RTV. Been a while since I ordered a bunch.

The official name here on FTE is 'Jose Putty'. Rubber duck named it after ROENTGEEP (Jose)

I just read that write up with the torque specs. That is too funny. "Jose Putty", a new word in my vocabulary. LOL

Neal, that is the cleanest diesel engine and compartment I have ever seen. I especially like the turbo in the straight ahead position. (lack of better words) You have done an awesome job on that truck.

Thank you Jim for clearing that up. All this talk of some grey RTV...the only one I know of is the Jose Putty.

Chris, use the Ford RTV, $24 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.

Not exactly. The turbo connection is different. That is the reason the early '99 spider pipe is so highly desired. It has the correct connection to our turbo. After then they put a different turbo with larger connection. You either go after market for the 3" plenums and y-pipe or use the early '99 spider pipe and use our smaller plenums.

Thanks for the compliment. The turbo is a little more used looking now. That was when I first installed it. You know there is almost no way to keep the housing looking that clean. It still looks good though. Thanks.
I now have gotten rid of that ugly fuel bowl in place of a small regulator. It makes look at little cleaner now and you can literally see in the valley. Now I have to keep that clean as well.
