They help a lot from what I hear. They firm up the shift points to help your trans live longer (firmer shift = less slipping).

Yes they really do help a lot! VERY worth the $$$. Especially with the larger tires, you're really stressing the trans. Do the TG kit and put on a 6.0L/aux cooler. Your trans will love you.

Like Chase said, it dramatically shortens the shift duration and raises the line pressures. But you will need tunes to match. Whose tunes do you have on the SCT now?

I know Jody has put tunes on the SCT in the past, I'm guessing he still will. Give DP a call and see that they can offer you. But you DO need to get the tunes setup to match. And when you do, it's like a whole different truck!!

They are both great tunes. I run the DP Tuner but Tony Wildman is another good one, you can't go wrong with those guys. Don't know to much about your SCT tuner, how many tunes you can put on it but somebody will chime in on how much and how many. O yea, back to your thread for a moment, alot of guys here did the transgo-tugger kit and with great sucsess. I went a different route because I had my tuner before the trans upgrade, so I went with a John Wood accumilator VB. Other VB's like the BTS(another good one) and maybe the Evans VB (don't know to much about this VB), you need to reburn your chip. Pretty much straight foward install, unbolt and remove the stock VB and put the new performance VB in, retorque to specs and wala, done.

I know another member recently bought the DP Tuned SCT, was having problems with it and swapped it out for a DP F5 and said the F5 blew the SCT out of the water... even though the SCT was tuned by DP with the same tunes he put on the F5.

The difference is that the SCT is an actual "Tuner", not a change-on-the-fly chip. You have to blow each tune into the PCM (slow). I believe it holds three tunes. I don't know if Tony programs the SCT or not, but I can certainly recommend his tunes with the TransGo!! He does sell the SCT, maybe he can put tunes on it. I'd give him a call...

Yes he does add tunes to the SCT, but like you said, it's much slower than just reaching down and turning the dial when you want to change tunes.

I had the TransGo Tugger II kit installed in my 4R100 Auto transmission after the shifts were a little sluggish. Truck/trans had about 120K. I had a local shop install kit(they def recomend them, did my research here). Cost $100 kit plus flush and fill=$300.
I def noticed a difference right away, Firmer, not HARD, shifts!!!
Also installed TRU COOL's biggest cooler up front and a MAGNEFINE in line filter

Big Poppa Pump, are you saying that with the John Wood accumilator you don't have to re-burn your chip? How do you like the VB? I may be in the same situation soon.
