Im ordering my electric fuel pressure gauge this week, and have had the fuel pressure fitting for a while now to make it screw into the back side of the fuel bowl. What im trying to figure out is, what is the stock fuel pressure supposed to be, I had thought I read 60psi. Also I was going to shim the fuel pressure spring, but then found on ebay a new spring that claimed to raise the fuel pressure, and "replace that old and heat cycled inconsistant spring" Do you guys think that the new spring will do the trick nicely, does the old spring even wear out, do I even need the extra fuel pressure with a lightly modified truck.
Hopefully springerpop dont yell at me again...LOL
If I could figure out how to rep him I would, he has helped me a lot in figuring out some of this diesel nonsence in my head, haha.
My goal is to remove the bullydog programmer, up the fuel pressure, and do the idm mod, and then once I sell the bullydog, swap to a dp tuner. Ordering ic couplers monday, but I probably should call Clay like others have said and see if he can get them; His website is still down so i cant check out products yet.
I think the spring is okay -- let's see where you're at once you put the gauge on it. I'm waiting on mine right now too. I have the gauge ready to go, but waiting on the fitting for the bowl. I currently have the stock setup in mine (except for the CCK), but am about to go to a regulated return instead. But before I make the change, I want to see where I'm at now.
I say if it's working, don't worry about it. Check out the new RR system DFA offers -- VERY reasonable cost.
Yeah, I was going to see what my current base pressure was and then hopefully someone would give me a reason to shim or not shim or to replace the spring for more or normal fuel pressure. I'm swapping out my turbo for a slightly rebuilt unit right now ( meaning I made 1 turbo out of 3) Waiting on the fuel pressure gauge and ordering ic couplers on Monday morning. Kinda need the truck for Friday morning or else I gotta borrow one again.
