Plati-kote Engine Enamel Application
I've got two spray cans of Plasti-kote Ford Blue engine enamel. It says to use thier recommended primer and even use a clear coat (all thier products of coarse) in the directions on the back of the can. I've heard that most people use paint solely, without primer for many reasons (one being that it allows heat to disipate the easiest). I need some good recommendation

It all depends on the look you are going for. If you want to smooth some of the casting marks out, then prime and sand. The primer will fill any small cast makes and once sanded will be nice and smooth. The clear coat is simply to help protect the base color from chemicals, but is not totally necessary. But if you paint with out primer, it may use up a little more color than if you used primer. If this is a engine that will see everyday usage and you are just dressing it up a little, I say just use the color.
