u guys helped me out big time this past winter, fixing my probs by suggesting synthetic oil. But now in the heat of the SC summer i am having the same probs. same symptoms. I start up when cold it runs for bout 20s then strts to shake a little then dies. i crank back up it fires but shakes alot worse for bout 10 to 15s then idles just fine. sometimes it dies again, sometimes not. once i get it warmed up runs and starts fine for the rest of the day.
should i go back to reg rotella for the summer? or r there ne other suggestions.
truck was doing the same thing in the winter b4 i switched to synthetic. the guys on here recomended the change and it fixed the prob. only bout 4500 miles on oil.
The ICP sensor is on the front inboard side of the drivers head.
Unplugging this will set the SES light and throw a P1280 code, but you can ignore that. See if the truck starts up and idles any different with it unplugged. Look and see if you've got oil inside the connector. After you let it idle for a couple of minutes, plug the connector back in. It takes 30 to 60 seconds for the PCM to register the sensor again, but listen to see if the idle changes when the sensor readings come back online.
Right now everything is fine. and if this was the prob i am a complete idiot. i am embarresd to type this. but i park on a incline, i check my oil level every week at least but i pulled on level ground this am to mess with icp sensor and checked my fluid levels and i was almost at the add line on my oil. i filled it back up and no probs 2day. i know oil is a major factor in this motor. so hopefully this was it
thks again u guys r the best people in the world

Jack, lacking that amount of oil shouldn't have made a difference. The oil in the HPOP is kept in there by a check ball so it won't drain out, unless it is faulty. But hey, if it worked, that was an easy fix. Hope it stays that way.
Remove the small fill screw on your HPOP, ( next to your fuel filter housing) after the truck been sitting over nite and the oil level in the HPOP should be about 3/4" from the top.. If not, its leaking internally..
But, I understand there is also a sensor for the crankcase oil... too low the engine won't run..
well guys, started this am, purred like a kitten. so it seems it was oil level and my stupitidy. Thks again for all the help. one more question, where is the best place to buy the CPS at is it International. i dont have a spare and i want one b4 make the trip.
thks
