Wonder if referring to 5 by 5.5? The 4X2 front disc brake upgrade usually involves replacing the front I beams, and spindles. Anyhow, here's a thread recently posted with info and links regarding the upgrade.
no ! i am looking for 5 on 4.5 since there are a lot more wheel choices
If you're going to keep the twin-i-beam front suspension, it seems like you only have 2 choices for converting to a 5x4.5 bolt pattern.....one is wheel adapters which would add a inch to your offset and you'll need to take that into account when selecting new wheels. The other choice is possibly redrilling the rotors to a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. This may create other fitment issues with the center of the hub, etc. Hopefully, someone else may have more info on whether this option is possible.
It's true that 5x4.5 gives you tons more wheel choices but since the Dodge Ram still uses 5x5.5, the aftermarket wheel choices have expanded some for this larger bolt pattern. You might fully explore those choices before going to the trouble to convert yours to 4.5. How do you plan to convert the rear end to 4.5?
