Pretty sure you'd have to take the cross member out. Way more work than just cutting the pipe right before the cross member. JMO

Okay so, did you cut yours or not??? I just want the factory exhaust if possible due to the fact that my truck is still under factory warranty... I just want to figure out if it is possible or not.
You have to remove the crossmember. Then you are going to have to have a lift or jack the front of the truck up quite a ways. I just did this about 2 weeks ago. I jacked mine up had to have a quite a few blocks under the tires while jacking. Hope this helps.

Okay that makes a lot of sensse... I have a 6" lift so that may give me the clearance I need. How difficult was it to get the downpipe out any tricks or advice as to to getting it out?

i just cut right before the cross member. I saved my old pipe just thinking i could weld it back together if need be but in all reality it's probably just something else i'm gonna throw away in a few years. It helps if you got someone on the top side to line it up on the turbo, and if you got the four inch turbo back the down pipe is probably the hardest part. You gotta hammer and pry the up pipe in there. Takes a lttle time and grunting but it'll go.
Dont cut it, it takes 20 minutes to have the cross member off and back on. Put a jack under the trans pan or transfer case(with a block of wood between jack and pan or case) Remove the 2 trans mounts bolts, jack up the trans an inch or two, remove cross member. Simple as that. Then if you ever want to switch back or trade the truck in with stock exhaust its easy to put back without have to weld it.
I guess the bigger question is do you have a place to keep it. I have done this sort of thing and then after tripping over it either in the garage or behind it, I end up tossing stuff anyway.
