Anybody know where to get the motors themselves that go in the actuators?
One of mine is going bad, has a flat spot most likely. It won't work, then if I manually move the gear slightly it'll work for another 20-30 cycles.
Already did the actuator fix a couple years ago, worked great. Don't want to replace the actuator since I put the work in to open/ modify the case already and I just need the motor.
I know Johnson Electric makes the motors, checked their site, they have motors with same size frames, but I don't know about the electrical connection (the OEMs have female stab connections) and the plastic gear on the motor may be unusable if I try to pull it off the motor shaft.
Anybody replaced just the motor, or do I need a whole new actuator now?
If you find it, you are well on your way to becoming an FTE legend!
If there is a minimum order, you could easily start a side business here - hundreds of us have needed them. Heck, you could probably mark them up 400% and STILL have delighted customers.
I'm not sure if you can buy just the motor part either. We do have new actuators though. If you can't repair the one you have and would like pricing,PM me your application.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, y'all.
I'll have to do some more searching and see if I can locate a source for direct replacements, if one does exist. I did find a couple motors that look like possible candidates, but the next stumbling block is the nylon gear.
I'll be sure to post something if I'm successful.

Reason: typo
I tend to shy away from wrecking yards because around here, the yard prices are not really that much of a bargain for used parts, esp since you don't know what quality you're getting in the long run. I get a fleet discount from Ford anyway so most of the time that option works out the best.
I know the motors are only probably around $5 give or take, so if I could locate a source, that's the cheap fix. If not, I'll just go OEM.
