door lock actuators

I have an 1999 F-350 crew cab and all 4 door lock actuators appear to have quit working at the same time. They move a little and try, but don't work. Dealers are telling me that the actuators (all 4) are bad and need to be replaced for $800. Doesn't seem right, as who has ever had a vehicle where all the actuators go bad at the same time. I've taken off the door panel, but can't seem to figure out how the actuator comes out. Can anyone help?
