A feller in my fiances neighborhood has a 89 f350 diesel 4x4 that ive had my eye on for a while. the other day he came up to me and first asked if i wanted the plow that came off the truck which he would sell to me for purdy cheep. i told him i wanted it but would like his truck also. he said that was the next thing he was gona ask me. he explained he was gon threw a divorce and need to sell em both but wasnt ready to sell the truck just yet but would let me know when he is. what im telling all yall this for is im a ford boy to the bone, i got the ford emblem tattooed on my arm, but i aint a fan of the 87-91 front ends on these trucks. ive seen people put 92-96 front ends on these trucks but i was woundering if i could put a 80-86 front end on this truck. ive had a 93 and 94 f150 and i just want a change from that front end. thanx fellers.
While it is not impossible, there are several factors to consider....first-the diesel uses 2 batteries so if you change out the inner fenders, you will have to improvise since the 150 does not have dual batteries....second-if you use the newer core support, you may also have to improvise on the radiator, both mounting AND opening dimesions....other than that, it should be pretty straight forward...
And trying to find a 80-86 diesel radiator support is very difficult. And no, a 460 radiator in not enough to cool that diesel. You will need a complete nose off an 83-86 diesel truck.
