Axle Torque Spec?

I just put a grease seal in my rear differential (left side) and replaced the lube oil with Mobil 1 75W-140 I may need to add some friction modifier, but so far I haven't noticed any shudder on turns. But that's not what this thread is about.

When re-assembling the axle shaft to the hub, I found the torque spec to be 80 ft/lbs for each of the eight retaining bolts. After tightening them, I just thought that the spec of 80 was too low, and maybe I got it wrong.

Anybody sure of the spec on the "axle retaining bolts"?

Are the Dana 50 and 60 the same spec? I know there are a lot of both out there.

Thanks, Twelve, for the cross-check.

Will, there are no Dana 50 REARS in the SuperDutys. Only corporate (Ford) Sterlings for the SRW's, and Dana 80's for the duallys.

The fronts can be either Dana 50's or 60's, depending on year and model, but don't have these bolts.

But asking the question wasn't dumb. You got a bit of info you didn't previously have, and that's a GOOD thing (he says in his finest Martha Stewart voice).
