okay...
TO make a long story short i had a water leak around the windsheild and it was causing all kinds of electrical "problems". doors would lock and unlock, dome light would flash, and horn got stuck on. in the process, my edge evolution programmer (i knkow its no D-P Tuner) decided to stop working also. it has power to it but the display reads "connecting to bridge, please wait" and never passes that screen. i contacted edge and they already sent me a new cable that plugs into the OBD port. same problem.
Question is, could the water problem have caused a problem with the OBD port? Any other forseeable problems that it could have caused? maybe the GEM got screwed up from the water, i dont know.
i had a new windsheild installed and since then all electrial problems have cleared up except this one.
Both the GEM and the PCM are in that corner take a look at both of them and look for signs of water. You may also want to check your fuses maybe the one that feeds the power to the OBD port is blown.
all fuses are good in the fuse box under the dash, except for the 15A horn fuse that keeps blowing after the horn was stuck on for about 30 min. could that possibly be the problem? all fuses under the hood are good. the obdII port has power because the module powers up, just doesnt get passed startup screen. i think the OBDII port runs off the same fuse as the cig. lighter and that also works.
i did see a little bit of corrosion on the connectors when i took out the GEM, so i cleaned them up and re-installed.
i hate electrical problems, they are a pain to track down. thanks megawatt. your in Acushnet? im from Fairhaven.
