sluggish steering

sluggish steering
I have a 2004 FX F150 with the 5.4. The steering started being really sluggish about a week ago. When I turn the wheel does not return. When turning the steering it is not fluid at all. I checked the power steering fluid and I topped that off. I am really confused now. Could the Power steering pump? I have also seen some talk about something in the steering linkage? Any help would be great.

To try and describe this better. Tonight when I got in my truck I tried to turn the wheel the entire way in both directions. When the wheel made it the entire way over I really had to make an effort to make it go the rest of the way. Turning right was much harder than turning left. Any ideas anyone has would help out greatly.

I went out today and sprayed down the u joint in steering with Seafoam spray. Bingo, steering issue resolved for now. I will have to replace the joint soon, but for now we are back in business.
