I have a 1994 F-250, The truck started to stall out really bad, so I thought it had to with the timing. so I change the cap, rotor, coil, and the TFI. After all that the truck just turned over and over, wouldn't even start. So after getting shocked to death, my guess is its something with the fuel.. I changed the fuel filter, but I can't hear the pump in the tank, so I was looking for the fuse, and it isn't in the fuse box under the dash. I tested all the ones under the hood. So my question is, is it a relay and if it is, where is that located??
Well, I doubt its tripped but there is (should be) a small black box under the driver dash on the firewall or whatever. Its an inertia switch. Its got a button on it that can trip. It shuts off the fuel pump in case of emergency. Also, I believe the fuel pump is relay run, not fused although I could be wrong.
Giving up so easy? Find out if the relay is working. If the relay works you could just have a bad pump. Is it a single tank? Im assuming you would have tried the other if it was a dual but I thought id ask.
Umm, maybe its in the engine compartment on the fender side. Haynes says there is a cover you remove to expose the relays and the locations of various ones are marked on the under side of it.
checked all of those. and all the fuse are good, check the relays as well. I think when I get back home, I'll just put a new fuel pump in. I looked in the haynes as well, and they don't really show a relay for the fuel pump..
Fuel pump and EEC relays are on the drivers inner fender. Before replacing the fuel pump check that the relay is being latched when the key is turned on, if it isn't then the computer is likely the problem.
here is how the problem started, the truck ran fine till it got up to temp. Then it would stall, I thought it was the egr vavle cause that is what happened to my 89. changed that. still had same problem. Thought it had to be a timing problem change it all but the dist. Get plenty of spark, truck turns over great just won't fire..
