My sister in-law (manual) lumbar support doesn't work any more.
Supposedly it's a **** or lever to rotate the lumbar (not an airbag on a switch).
She heard a "pop" of sorts and then the lumbar went flat.
Has anybody ever had the seats apart and/or repaired the manual lumbar? Somebody at Ford told her it was probably a cable that popped. They want $90 to diagnose it, and then an hourly rate for the repair.
I'm not afraid to tackle it if it's not a real PITA.
Go to the Ford parts dept and get a printout of the seat/frame parts or if like me, dive right in....
4 bolts hold the seat to the floor and a wire, once out upholstery "C" clips hold seat cover on. You will find the seam for the back on the bottom of the vertical back rest.
Undo the clips and peel the cover, you may have to cut the foam to access the mechanism as it is moulded in place. Replace or repair defective part.
