I have a 55 F350, I was wondering what a good chassis would be to put under it. Almost all of the original is worthless, just dragged it out last week. It has a long bed on it and I will probably cut it shorter depending on what works best. Any advice on what I should do or what would be a good chassis to put it on would be very helpful. I don't know a whole lot about these trucks yet. thanks
Just beware, frame swaps are strongly frowned on by members of this board. At one time if you posted about swapping to a newer frame you would get some pretty heated replies. The main concern is swapping your truck body to newer frame is not for the faint of heart. It's a lot harder than you would think to do it correct and safely. Also, as you will find out when you do the search another fact sited is since it is a somewhat difficult job many have started but have given up.
What exactly are your plans. Do you want to keep it as an F350 or convert it to an F100? Build it as an original F100. Are you asking what modern frame allows you to just sit the body on it (none without a consideral amount of work)? The easiest route would be to find yourself a frame from a 53-56 F100 that allows you to bolt the body without any fuss and do suspension mods from there. There has been many different frame swaps made but none without problems that need to be solved. I'm using a 72 chevy frame on my panel and there has been others that have done the same on pickups. But like I said the original frame would be the least amount of work and would likely get you rolling the fastest.
I guess I will consider just doing suspension mods since the whole frame swap looks pretty entailed. I have been looking at the mustang II swaps but don't know if the 350 chassis is to much weight for it? I don't need more work than possible. Thanks for the advice so far.

You could also go with on aftermarket frame but they are pricey but I'd look around and see if you could come across another frame from an F100 or possibly a F250. Every once in awhile there is someone trying to give one away for the hauling or for the cheap just so it doesn't see a scrap yard. It will give you some time to think as well as to what you want your truck to be. I'd also spend some time viewing alot of the galleries the guys and gals have on here to help you decide and get ideas. Hope you injoy your stay here and before I forget welcome to FTE.
ALCAEUS just got a truck today with 2 extra frames in the deal.you dont know if it PC,but maybe it wouldnt hurt to ask what he plans to do with them, you never know it could be that simple.
