Exactly, his and his employees workmanship IS his "sales pitch". His shop turns out high end work and he lets the results do the selling for him.

Congrats Mike.
Now you know we'll all be chomping at the bit for you to get it there and done.
No pressure.

Mike, I'm glad to hear that you finally found a paint shop that you feel comfortable with. Could you shed any insights into maybe what your color combinations will be? I suppose the "Pumpkin" will be some shade of orange, but that only limits it a little. What do you have in mind?

I'm definitely not going with orange.
The replacement cab was originally two tone and I decided to keep that.
The color combination I started with was white for the roof, Explorer stripe and the F-O-R-D on the tailgate. The main body color was going to be a GM color, Imperial Blue Metallic, but I've found a blue that I like better and it's a Ford color, Kona Blue. This is the dark metallic blue on late model Mustangs.
No matter what color I paint it it'll always be "The Pumpkin" to me.
Like I said in a previous post though, I should probably change the name. I think "Empty Pockets" would probably be more appropriate.

Reading another thread made me think of your build so I'll ask here.
Does the pumpkin have factory air? I don't remember seeing the topic come up on your thread.
If so, how are you going to deal with it?

Duh, just remembered you upgraded to a Sanden style compressor.
But more interested in the rebuild of the firewall to interior unit.

The Pumpkin didn't have factory air. It had aftermarket add on air that never worked very well. The unit used the same York compressor as the factory and dealer air did but had lightweight brackets that allowed it to vibrate really bad.
When I went shopping for a donor truck I specifically looked for one that had factory air.
I had already gotten the entire factory A/C unit including the dash and firewall section out of another truck years ago but that was before I decided to replace the cab.

I'm finally back home for a couple of weeks, after being gone for three and a half months I couldn't wait to get back to working on the pumpkin.
I got back last Thursday (5/06) and started working on the pumpkin Friday morning. So far I sprayed the second coat of primer and then sprayed two coats of semi-gloss black Valspar Industrial finish.
So far I've installed the new fuel tank and straps and right now I'm installing the stainless steel lines.
By the time I leave again I hope to have the front suspension done and, if I'm really lucky and everything "clicks", the rear suspension done and the rear rebuilt.
As usual I'll keep you posted on my progress.

You are doing a excellent job on your restoration, you inspire me to do mine the best I can. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys for the kind words and compliments.
I'm close to getting it to paint but doubt I'm going to get it there this trip. More than likely it'll have to wait till my next time home.

That would be nice but unfortunately I'm the supervisor, if I don't work nine other people don't work either.....don't think they'd like that. None of them are into trucks like I am.

Dropping it off for paint now would be like dropping the wife off to deliver your first baby and heading to the airport for vacation....

How could you get any "work" done....
