I've been intrigued lately with the supercharged Lightning trucks and the Cobra Mustangs. There is a Lightning running around the neighborhood and I love that whine. So, I did some searching and found a "used" Eaton supercharger off of a 2002 Lightning. The seller says the 'charger only has 100 hours on it and it works fine. Truck was wrecked and he's parting it out. Told him I had to do some research and I'd get back in touch with him.
What all is involved in converting my current 2002 Expedition 5.4 2-V over to this supercharger setup? Fuel pump larger? Pulleys different? Alternator relocated? The seller only has the intake manifold and the supercharger left - the other required parts I would have to get. My big question, though. While very well maintained, can my 120,000 bone stock engine handle a supercharger? I don't plan on going out and racing any C6 Vettes or anything like that (it is still a truck), but for an asking price of $250, it's almost crazy to pass it up if it is worth it and is easily do-able. Any input welcome. Thanks!
Instead of having us call, would you care to share with all of us your supercharger secrets?
I don't think the 2V blower will fit my engine though so there's no supercharger love for me.
on this body style, you have to disconnect the motor mounts and pull the motor up. looked it up on alldata. no room to properly do it through the wheel well, which is what was attempted.
back to the topic....
