Ok, so i've been looking at superchargers for my 2000 F150 (4.2 auto). And i've only been able to find superchargers for the 3.8's. Would a supercharger for the mustang work for the truck motor's too? I know it'd have more power than the 3.8's, lol. Anyone done this before? I'd like to get some kind of idea how much more power i'd be getting out of a supercharger. Can someone give me an idea?
Matt,
a few years back, a guy who used to be a regular here tried supercharging his 4.2. I don't remember all the details but I seem to remember it was a long ordeal, that caused him a lot of headaches, but he eventually got it to work.
I seem to remember he wound up taking the whole thing off a while later.
There has never been much done by guys here as far as supercharging their 4.2.
I do not know if the 3.8 would work. There have been several different intake configurations on the 4.2 (cast intake and plastic intakes) and I am not intimate with the 3.8 configurations.
I'll do a little looking back through past threads and see if I can find anything.
Thanks for the reply Brian, I'm just checking things out that I can do. I'm pretty sure that you can use the same intake manifold (Same manifold is used on supersix.com). So I'm pretty sure i'd be able to do it, Don't really know though, i'm not going to do anything unless i'm positive.
Go turbo. Just mount it down by the trans and run an oil pump to dump the hot oil back into the oil pan. You have tons of room and you can use 95% of the factory exhaust. Much simpler then trying to adapt a supercharger system.
