I posted this in "Engines" with no resaults and thought it might be a sign to go elsewhere, mabey "Oil Systems", so here goes.
I need the name of a manufacture for aftermarket pans that makes one for a 300-6. I have purchased my first Ford and it happens to have an inline in it. I'm very familiar with the performance and aftermarket when it comes to V-8s, and have a good deal of knowlege in that particular area, BUT...I don't know Ford that well, and am on a very fast learning curve with the six cylinder.
Please help. I live in Arizona and come summer, I want as much oil in this thing as I can get to help survive the heat, I am also planning a dual remote oil filter and cooler system with fan. I know this probably sounds like overkill, but with the miles I put on in traffic (I'm in construction)I need all the help I can get when the mercury hits 115 ambient, and the surface streets are well over 180 degrees.
Might also want to try one of the performance shops that specialize in the I-6, Clifford is the only one that comes to mind right now, but I'm sure there are others. Moroso or Milodon might have web sites that you could check out also.
Thanks guys,
I've been in the summit book, with nothing found other than the V-8 stuff, have tried Milodon and Moroso, no dice. Steffs is a last resort, they START at 350 bucks and up, trick sheet metal stuff though.
I'm still on the hunt and will let everyone know what I find and how much, It'll be soon as summer's almost here.
Chris
I don't know if an aftermarket pan is truely needed for the big 6. I've had two myself and have driven a few others and all of them have had 7 quart pans from the factory. Granted the last one I drove was an '84, so I don't know if they changed between then and your '86. I think just a good aftermarket remote dual-filter and cooler should work. It might even get you close to 8 quarts total capacity.
Just my $.02 worth.
