Hello,
This Friday I am dropping my oil pan off my 95 F-150 4.9L 300/6 and changing the gasket since, it is almost all squeezed out!
My question is.. Is there a certain order that I need to put my oil pan bolts back in? I was wondering if I might be able to print out a schematic for it to reference.
Thanks, for any help Larry - Phoenix AZ
Hey, Thanks for the help! I do not have the torque specs yet but, where would I find them online? I know I could get them form a Chiltons or my favorite Haynes I suppose. Thanks, Larry :-)
oil pan bolts torque 7 to 9 ft lbs. DO NOT OVER TORQUE! If you over torque them you will do two things: 1: squeeze the gasket out, again, just like the problem you have now. 2: you could bend the oil pan rib so a new gasket will never seat correctly.
Also, there are four places you MUST use RTV. "where the rubber meets the cork". it is also a good practice to use RTV silicone where the cavities are at the end of the curve under the rubber gaskets, and where the timing cover meets the block. Good luck. Herman
Hey Herman!
Thanks, for the information on the torque specs! Luckily, the gasket that was on there is rubber and not that cork junk
I will never read a Chilton manual again! They said to raise up my engine one inch when I needed more like 5 to 6inches!
Also, I had to jack up my transmission with a bottle jack and take off the damn inspection plate just to clear that oil pan!!
Other then that though the job went well!
Thanks,again Larry
