I'm headed to Gastonia North Carolina. Wish me luck, this is the longest trip I've had to take this truck on, just changed the oil, etc, topped off all the fluids, aired up to 55psi, and hoping for the best mileage I can get, and hoping to have no problems.
There was the typical delay after delay in getting on the road. My girlfriends niece was headed off to college, and every arrangement she'd made prior to this mysteriously fell through at the last minute; she was supposed to have left last weekend. Nothing was staged for loading when we got there to pick her up, so it took longer. I got a new windshield installed (appointment was for 9am, they didn't do it til 10am, and it was done by 11am). I think we finally hit the interstate at 3:30pm. Can't recall what time I passed Clarksburg, but if I was planning on making many more long road trips, a T19 isn't going to cut it. What a trip. My fuel gauge is a little goofy, and it will read full until it's near empty, but I kept getting nervous, as it seemed I was going a very long distance, and it was still reading full. I'd stop, fuel up, and it would only take 6 gallons. On the way home, I stopped along 77 at a Shell for fuel, and then just proceeded along until I hit Washington PA, where I stopped and threw another $20 in just in case, and went home. All in all, about 1064 miles traveled, once I calculate it all, I'll know for sure, but for the trip down I averaged 18.87 mpg, with 3 people in the cab and nearly all of one persons earthly posessions in the bed. Empty on the way back, I have yet to figure, but I think we hit over 20 mpg for a little while.
Thanks Joe. That's the most important part too, nothing bad happened at all.
Edit: Total trip mileage comes out to be 18.03 mpg average. The in town short distance driving in and between Shelby and Gastonia NC in the 94+ degree 70% humidity weather didn't help. But, overall, I'm not disappointed. With an 18.03 total trip average, I'm certain I hit over 20mpg on some of the highway runs. Those Appalachian Mountains are a bear though.
