Installed my new MBRP exhaust yesterday. Had problems installing and final alignment so the hangers would line up with the connection flanges. Got it together enough for this weekends camping trip. Gonna have to climb under the truck next week for the final touches. I need some help or advice for the final alignment. The factory rubber hangers are not hanging at 6 o'clock, more like 9-10 o'clock. The turbo clamp went on without a hitch and the final length is perfect it's just the hanger positions and that they don't line up with the connection points. Feel comfortable using it this weekend but not permanently. Any help would be appreciated.
Also installed the 6637 yesterday, very simple mod. Only problem I had with the yellow cover is that the Riff Raff Logo was facing the wrong way. Need to call Riff Raff and find out what to do.
you have pics? on my silverline exhaust the hangers were not welded on the exhaust but were like the clamps so you could put them where you need them. have you called mbrp yet to ask them about it?
Shove or pull it in the right direction (make sure you have the pieces in the right order). Get it as close as you can. Loosen the clamp at the turbo (not to much, but enough to give the downpipe some wiggle room. Rotate the downpipe inboard (drivers side) to pull the exhaust up and put something under it, I used jackstands, boxes, even a large cooler when I ran out of those. Make sure its not hitting the crossmember (big rattles) or a brake line, the over axle pipe goes inboard, did you remove your spare? wrassle the middle welded mount into the hanger, then the muffler 2 point hanger btw, I was only able to get one side in (inboard) and redneck engineered the other, but it works fine. Wrassle the rearmost hanger in place. Tighten the turbo clamp and work your way back. I did my 5inch install without help this way and it worked, but it does take some messing with it, imho the most "bolt on" exhaust I've ever installed.
When I put mine in, the piece between the downpipe and the last pipe had to be cut about 9 - 12" to get the hangers to fit right and have the correct overall length. The overall length was OK without cutting it but the hangers were cocked like you're describing. I have the 4 door F250 Lariat with the 7' bed.
Just got back from my camping trip up to Rangeley lake and getting back to you all, thanks for the reply's. I've not had a chance to get under the truck yet but when i do I'll snap some photo's and post them. There seems to be a slight rattle when going over some VERY bumpy mountain roads but not as bad as I was expecting. Between the 6637n and the new exhaust my truck really growls and hisses. So much for sneaking into my deer hunting spot unnoticed.
Working the night shift the next few nights so it will be a few days before I get back to you folks.
