when I had an issue with the UVCH and the shop thought it was the IDM they told me that in these trucks the wipers going without being turned on is a distinct sign of either a PCM short or issue, or the batteries being dead.
Would anyone be interested in finding out the solution to this problem, even though it has been such a long time ago?
(Guess I am a back-slider, huh? )
Anywho....I worked on the truck several times. Always by myself. I'd wiggle wires, then grind the starter over and over a few times, until the batteries went dead. Then I'd charge the battereies up and go at it again. I never could figure out anything. One day, I happened to take my son along with me. I did the working under the hood, and I let him do the behind-the-wheel stuff. Just as soon as he tried to start it, I noticed the fan belt wasn't turning!!!! Upon investigation, I discovered the AC compressor was locked up. Nothing else was wrong with it. As soon as I removed the fan belt, it started right up. I put a nice Visteon AC compressor on it, and viola, that fixed it!
Thanks for all the help! I hope in some way all this helps someone else along the way.....
