Steering wheel cover question

I just received a "Wheelskins" cover for my '95 F-150 steering wheel but it seems to be about 1/2 inch short of meeting where the laceing takes place. Does anyone know how ugly the original steering wheel looks underneath the factory leather if I cut it off? I'm just not real confident that the gap will close up unless the leather is real stretchy as it wraps the plastic rim of the wheel.

Thanks for the reply in advance.

If you cut the factory leather off there will be notches where the stitches are. I cut mine off and put on this steering wheel cover and it looks almost factory. Most people don't even notice. Its overpriced here. I got it a walmart for 15-20 bucks.

Here it is on my truck.

The wheel doesn't look bad without the factory leather. It is kinda skinny and it has a ring cut around it. I believe the ring is there for the seam where the ends of original cover are stitched together.

Thats why I originally cut mine off. The leather was all screwed up and I though it would look like the steering wheel on an XL truck. Those notches are where the seam is.
