I sent off my first sample to Blackstone, from my oil change this past weekend and this was in the comment section.....
You've got a nicely wearing 7.3L powering your F-250 at 94,000 miles. Our universal averages
show typical wear from this engine model after an oil run of ~5,500 miles. That's about how long your oil
was run and you can see how well it matches up with averages. That's a good sign that no obvious
problems are developing. The oil itself was in good shape physically. The viscosity was right on target and
no fuel or anti-freeze was fund. It looks like you've been taking good care of this one. 200,000 miles (or
I'm still in the middle of another run. I broke in a new turbo during that change, so the suspicion is that it contributed to some slightly higher wear metals in the oil. I'm about half-way through this run to see how it does. I have no idea otherwise why my iron would be so high. On the other hand, what in the turbo would break-in with iron content? Thrust bearing I guess??
I'm crossing my fingers on this one. Otherwise, I don't know where/what to look for.
what does the kit come with? just a glass jar with lid and instructions?... we have the same thing here on the flight line everytime a jet comes down they take a joap sample... (military for oil sample) lol... so they burn it to see if any metal is wearing on the jet so it can get fixed right away... is this all they do with the oil? does anyone know>?
It comes with a plastic container for the oil, one for the whole thing, some absorbent material, and a sheet to fill out. Just slide the little one in the big one and pay for postage.
