Guess I'm extra dull today. How do I detach liftgate struts from ball studs on body? Stud on body broke, want to detach strut before I weld it back on. No longer availabe from dealer. Two junk yards I went to were picked clean.
Tip: Don't let the hatch ride all the way up. After it reaches its max height, pull it down just slightly with one hand and you'll find it much easier to pop the strut loose.
Thanks all. Got strut off, welded up ball and hex shoulder to a M8 cap bolt, works great. While in maintenance mode I replaced clockspring. Wish spark plug replacement was so painless!
