Hello I am new here and trying to finish the last of the body work on my 1984 BroncoII. The problem I am having right now is that the stud and nut are turning together while trying to remove the hinge from the glass. I don't see a way to open the box on the outside of the glass so is there a way to get this hinge off without destroying the hinge or the glass? This liftgate is the last thing needing repair work before the primer is sprayed and I have been fighting with this for far too long now.
I have never taken one off, but, I would look for tabs on the forward side.
How I take off those type of nuts. I push a screw driver or shim into the threads under the nut, to hold the thread while I turn the nut. If that does not work, rotate the nut until it feels like the bolt is set into the glass, then press hard on the nut to keep the square head in the glass hole.
If this does not work, cut the nut on two sides with a dremel, this will loosen the tension enough that if you use the above technique, it will now come off easily.
