Help with hub part # pre- 3/22 vrs after 3/22/99

Have to replace driver's hub/bearing assem. on my 99 4x4 along with ball joints.
Part # comes up as F81Z1104CE as pre- 99. Mine was manuf. 7/98.
Stealership has a 1104CH which was after 3/22/99 and tells me it will fit only I would have to change the rotor to fit. Also telling me this was for the model change and 1104CE not available. Find that questionable,....any advice on this would be appreciated ASAP, pulling it on Friday. Tnx

I just came back from my local dealership and was told the exact same thing. Have to upgrade to late model hub assembly and rotor. Guess its time to get the front end redone to late model specs...

If all we need are hub assembly and rotors, I think both sides could be upgraded for the close to the price of just one early model hub. If you shop around.

Looks like i'll be doing some shopping this weekend.

Good luck

Thanks for that piece of info, now I feel better because it didn't make sense with the hub that replaces the original fits 99 and later. What tics me off is 6 months ago I just replaced the front rotors now the upgrade requires matching rotors that will fit the new hubs.
Good luck shopping, I'm settling for 10 off at a local dealer, don't have time to shop, need the truck.

Just an YFI.....I am pretty sure the early hubs have a 12 MM coarse thread and the later ones have a 12 MM fine thread, so if you change the fronts only, then you will have different lug nuts from front to rear. Not a problem as long as you are aware.

I just had both my hubs changed at the dealer (needed truck, no time for shopping or do it myself...) and do you guys know if they are required to upgrade them to the late 99 or just change the e99's with e99 parts?

As far as I know, according to the parts dept at the dealer, Ford made the hubs on the early 99 (pre march 22/99) obsolete and can no longer be ordered. Anyone who still has these in stock are supposed to send them back and replace with the newer style(after 22/99). New rotors are required to fit new hubs and not sure yet about the studs whether they are fine or course thread. Once I pick them up on Friday I will be able to determine that.

Are you sure on the 12mm, or could they be 14 mm.

Lug nut thread should be the same for the early 99 and later 99 trucks. I think they are 14mm. No thread pitch change.

Thanks for that, now I don't have to chase lug nuts, dealer didn't know the answer.

Another question for you.

Doing ball joints along with hubs, I have the procedure up to getting the knuckle off. Do I have to heat it and drive the knuckle off, use a pickle fork or use a press(which I can't find anywhere in stock).
