Before I begin, a little background. I have a 300 cdi, I6 engine (unk year/make/model) I believe its between 1968-1978. Currently this engin is in my 1950 case tractor. never mind that this is a tractor, the engine is a ford, and thats what all of my questions are about.
Currently I have the following issue;
1. Fuel spewing out from the carb. I know its a float issue. Its a carter carb YFA/C-1...well at least part of is any way. I have exaused my search for something similar to what I have (I'll post pictures tomorrow). I removed the mechanical fuel pump for an electric pump (has same psi output as the mechanincal one). Would this be causing my issue? its 5-9 psi, and the mechaical pump was 5-7...
2. Any websits that sell reman or new YFA carbs, I've only found one, and there where no pictures to see if it even resembled the one I have.
I'll start with thoes 2 questions, and post the pics of my "frankinstein" tractor later.
I would think any Auto parts store could help you... it seems the reason your fuel is coming out is because you needle and seat arent closing.
There are a few reasons for this. I will list some.
To much fuel preassure 5 to 7 is normal over 9 could do this
worn needle and seat.. very common with the age of the vehicle
A hole in the float causing it to sink, and needle and seat wont close
A peice of debri obstructin the neadle from seating.
All you need is a rebuild kit. Now if you find debri ( ever so small it will be) in the float bowl, It got there somehow. You need to put a fuel filter right before the carb, or you will contaminate the new bowl or needle.
If no parts available. I would try Tom Langdons Stvebolt. Up in Mich... he has alot of links for the older stuff
I hope this helps
It's not unheard of for the factory float spec to be a little high so once you get a new needle/seat installed make sure the float is set and then monitor for rich idle and running...adjust accordingly.
As far as I know, there is "only one" rebuild kit for the old 1bbl's, cost me $14.95 last time I did mine. They ask for all kinds of info but it always comes out to just one kit, UNLESS you got the junk feed back carb. Toss it in the scrap can and get another. Hope this little bit of info helps some.

We'll I broke down and bought a reman for 180, but it arrived the day after I deployed to Iraq, where I am right now. So it will have to wait a few months till I get home. Looks great though.
