When I got it there was no heater core in it.. Didnt need it. Now I do. Replacing it was the easy part. I have a hose looped in the route for the heater hoses. Now for the hard part...
Where do the hoses go? I dont have a diagram. I have one coming off the thermostat and one coming off the water pump. I guess the easiest way to put it is the heater core has a left and right pipe. Im just using aftermarket coolant hoses.. Not the things they want 25 bucks a piece for.
The heater core has 2 pipes coming from the top 'reservoir' on it. So, im not sure which one is the inlet and which is the outlet, or if it even matters. If anyone has input it would be awesome. To my knowledge this is the 4th heater core (I finally padded it as the others have failed because of bouncing around on the trails) I dont want to screw something up by hooking it up backwards.
On my 88 F150 with the 300 six, the heater hose from the thermostat housing goes to the heater pipe closest to the passenger fender. The heater hose from the water pump goes to the heater pipe closest to the engine.
Not sure it really matters. On my truck there is no heater control valve.
It's not a part that goes on an F150. Don't beleive aftermarket parts supplies listings. Ford controls there temps with a blend door, mixing warm and cold air.
