What is the name of the bracket that the clutch and brake pedals mount on to???
mine snapped today while pulling up to that cursed traffic light this afternoon. a buddy of mine has a newer 1ton parts truck BUT the bracket is made a little different and the switches/sensors dont match up on his,,, what do i need/ where do i need to look for this item. Also, it seems my broke umemployed butt might finally have a job... going for a walk through interview tomorrow at a wood products mill at 10am. it would be about a 2000$ a month cut in pay from the cement mixer, but hey, its a job!!!!!!!
appreciate is, hope i can find one close, this puts us to 1 working vehicle. Ya know, that murphy fella who came up with all those laws, he needs to be shot!!!
I can't recall what the name is, but you will need another one from the same style of truck, 87-91. They are built differently to accomodate the dashboard. I tried to put one from a 1990 into an 1985 truck and it bolts to the firewall, but not the dash. I got the one I needed from the junk yard for $15.
just heard from a buddy at another ford shop... 50$ 2-3 days. sounds good to me. he said that each delarship is free to set their own prices on parts. Sure seems to me that they dont like us fixing our trucks, makeing it impossible to repair, and the stealership is the only place around here that carries the parts... call 20 wrecking/salvage yards in the area and NO ONE carries the older trucks. when scrap prices got high last year, guess how they made record profits??? old tanks like ours over the scales...
i take back what i said earlier, i did find one in a junkyard, 80$. the retail price @ the stealership 5 miles from that junkyard is only 90$, brand new!!!!!
If i am thinking wrong please tell me, but would pop rivets, 1/4X2 flat stock, and a drill be a feasible temp fix. we have a nasty rain forecast for this weekend, cant get parts till tuesday and truck WILL sink in yard if it rains...
In aus they call it a pedal box bracket but that could be a generic name mechanics use. If the rivets don't work do you have a freind who can weld aluminium? As a last ditch thing I once repaired an altenator bracket by drilling small holes on each side of the crack and "stitching" it with small loops of twisted wire. Got me 150 km home and about 2 days around town until I could get a new one. Mind you I didn't go to hard on the revs for those few days.
