I use Diesel Kleen by Power Service, in the grey bottle. I use it year round down here in SW Florida. Guys up north when it gets cold switch to the white bottle to prevent gelling. A 32oz bottle will treat 100 gallon. That comes out to .32 oz x how many gallon you put in your tank.
most every body on this site uses diesel klene. It is a good idea to use it in every tank. International designed these motors to run off a certain centain rating and from what ive read you can't even buy diesel with a rating as high as it was designed to run on. That is why a lot of people use fuel additive in every tank.
I use Diesel Kleen, 16 oz per 30-34 gal average fillup.
If you search this 6.0 forum, advanced search, using "fuel additive" as your keyword (include the parenthesis), select 'search titles only' in the drop down, you will get about 120 good threads on this subject.
What would be the best fuel additive for my stock 6.0? And how much per tank full?
I think there is no definitive "best fuel additive", you'll find many different opinions on that topic. Diesel Kleen and Stanadyne are both pretty commonly used. There are also some independent studies that I have seen which illustrates that some additiives do certain things better than others (i.e. Cetane boost, lubrication, etc.)
FWIW I know that Stanadyne Performance and Performance Jr. are both approved by Ford. Others probably are as well.
I think there is no definitive "best fuel additive",
Exactly! If there was a clear "best", we would all use it and the other guys would either be out of business, or copycat it.
I use DK because it is available just about everywhere that sells oil. I don't think I've every even seen Stanadyne in a store, and I don't care to mail order something like that. Motorcraft is good, but if I'm at a dealership it's for repairs and I'm already having a bad day. Also don't want to mail order it.
Wal-mart started using DK in their OTR trucks, and stocking it in all their stores, and that gave DK a big marketing advantage, whether the product deserves it, or not.
