I have never turned a rotor right out of the box and never had a problem however I do clean all the rust inhibitors/oils off the braking surfaces before installing the rotors.
All of this checks with what I have done; I recently replaced brakes and rotors on the front - probably its third set of pads, but definitely the first set of rotors, and those have been turned at least twice. The first two brake jobs were done by the dealer, so I decided to do this one and replace the rotors (103k) as I was getting a very slight pulsating braking. I did what you guys had recommended, put them on new out of box but cleaned them up first with brake clean to remove the clear protectant on them. I haven't had any problems, they run great. I do agree with the comment about overtightening lug nuts causing warping of rotors. After the second brake job done by the dealer (around 60k or so) I retorqued all of the wheels myself in the parking lot before I took it home that day, and have carefully torqued them to spec ever since. Every time those wheels come off for some repair that I have done - ball joints, front end components, rear brakes, etc. - I retorque them myself in the correct pattern. I once made a guy at NTB who installed my new tires at 60k retorque them because I saw him through the observation window to the service bay just cranking the lugs in a cirlcular pattern using an air wrench. Thanks for all of your feedback.
I was thinking this very thing as I realized I'm about to be post #18 in a thread where reply #1 should've been a simple, "No".
That's what I told him 17 posts ago. Turns out the job was already done anyway. Kind of like asking if you got a good deal on a car AFTER you bought it. Punching out.
Something is still not set right because I'm getting this message, "vze2sgxa has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

I had that box checked that said 'contacts and moderators only', it's unchecked now, should work. (I had thought your were one of the moderators though.)
