Question Gabriel Shocks

Hey guys I'm supposed to be getting my Gabriel Load Carriers shocks tomorrow. And I know that Gabriel shocks are good shocks are good shocks, but i was wondering if anyone has had any of these particular ones. I'm hoping they'll ride better than my old Motorcraft SureTrackers. Any opinions on these particular ones would be much appreciated. Thanks

They probably will ride stiffer.

I put a similar set (Monroe) on my old Explorer. It made the rear end hard as a rock!

Well thats what I'm needing for my '76. She's kind of my wood hauler and the older MotorCraft Shocks just sag a lot when I'm loaded down. Did the ones you put on your explorer stiffen the ride?

to be honest a stiffer shock will produce a bigger shock but if these just don't cut it for you, you may want to look into getting a air bag kit as will or instead of the shocks but it is all up to you.

lol, throw a steering knuckle on that and you'd have a strut

I would think the springs on those things would complement your existing springs but I would question how much load they could carry since the shock mounts weren't designed for that purpose... I've heard stories of people using air-shocks for that reason and wound up punching holes in their floorpans because the mounts couldn't handle the weight being put on them...

Well if you still have problems then you could always use an add-a-leaf for some more spring support

Yes, it did. Stiff enough to pop dentures!

I'd go with overload springs first, tho. I probably will do the same on my F150, as I plan to turn the bed into a camper with a topper.
